My paintings are rooted in those visuals sensations that fascinated me as a child: the game of shapes and colours, that could be observed as abstract, that suddenly create familiar shapes. This fascination has stayed with me, and takes several forms. Either I am inspired by the car’s volumes to make them interact with other abstract shapes, letters or patterns, or I am trying to push those automobile design as far as possible down the minimalist side; how far is it possible to get those shapes to be “abstract” looking, yet remaining a coherent image of a car that we recognise. This visual exploration is the source of all my paintings, however very different they look.
